November 24, 2006, Issue #044

Hello,

If you are reading this newsletter from the U.S., I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving and remembered to give thanks for all the things for which you are grateful. Among other things, I'm thankful for the readers of this newsletter, my massage clients, my home, and my ability to continue to grow and develop both personally and professionally. Until December 1, you can download this free gratitude meditation.

This newsletter is the third in a series where I introduce you to different types of massage. If you missed the previous two (about Neuromuscular Technique and Tui Na), go here for back issues.

Wishing you all the best,

Carol

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is a part of the Ayurveda tradition from India. Head massage (or 'champi') comes from using oils to massage and groom the hair.

Used on the scalp, face, neck, shoulders, and upper arms to stimulate or relax the body, Indian head massage can help relieve headaches, eye strain, and joint and muscle tension. Energetically, this massage balances the top three chakras.

You sit, fully clothed, in a comfortable chair for this massage. Oil may or may not be used. Because the hair roots are connected to nerve fibers, the oils calm the nervous system in addition to nourishing the hair.

Some therapists start treatment at the scalp and face before moving to the shoulders and upper back; others begin with deep kneading and probing of the neck and shoulder muscles before working with the scalp.

Manual Lymph Drainage

Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD) is a specialized massage technique designed to stimulate the body's flow of lymph. You may also hear this technique referred to as Manual Lymphatic Drainage or Lymph Drainage Massage.

Developed by the Danish Doctors Emil and Estrid Vodder in the 1930s, MLD is a series of light, rhythmic manipulations. This rhythmical massage stimulates the lymphatic vessels, which are important in delivering nutrients, antibodies, and other immune constituents to the body's tissues and also in removing toxins, cell waste, and dead particles. When the lymphatic vessels are not functioning optimally, the body's immunity drops.

In additional to boosting to the immune system, MLD can help with conditions such as edema, sinus congestion, abdominal bloating, migraine headaches, and rheumatoid arthritis. It also promotes the healing of fractures, torn ligaments, and sprains.

One of the major uses of MLD is to help treat Lymphedema (an accumulation of fluids), especially after breast surgery. For more information, visit eLymphNotes. To find someone trained in this technique, go to the National Lymphedema Network.

For information about training in MLD, visit Dr. Vodder School North America. For books, see Foundations of Manual Lymph Drainage or Compendium of Dr. Vodder's Manual Lymph Drainage.

Something I want to share with you...

"You can have all the knowledge and skills in the world, but if your "blueprint" isn't set for success, you're financially doomed." --T. Harv Eker

I want to take this opportunity to introduce you to T. Harv Eker. He is a bestselling author and one of the world's top trainers. His newest book, Secrets of the Millionaire Mind, reached #1 on the NY Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestseller lists in its first week out. In the book, Harv reveals 17 specific ways that rich people think and act differently from poor and middle-class people.

I recently attended an event hosted by Harv's company, Peak Potentials Training, and have been given access to a recording of a Teleseminar he hosted where he describes his foolproof methods for financial success. I'm sending you the link because the seminar really worked for me and I'd like to see you benefit too...
Millionaire Mind Teleseminar

Simply put, Harv teaches people how to master the "inner game" of wealth in order to create outward success.

One of the things I learned from the seminar was that the most powerful truths are simple and indestructible; you can use them to create a foundation on which to build your own "rich life," no matter how much or how little success you have experienced up until now. And a "rich life" is about more than just money...

Learn how you can transform your life from the inside out.
