February 6, 2010 Hello, This issue has a little essential oil news and reading, a little about Thai massage and review of a Thai massage DVD, and a couple of links to some personal development articles I have published. Carol Essential Oil NewsAromatherapists have long said that some essential oils help reduce inflammation. A study published in the January 2010 issue of Journal of Lipid Research reports that thyme, clove, rose, eucalyptus, fennel, and bergamot essential oils suppress the COX-2 enzyme, an enzyme responsible for inflammation and pain. The researchers identified carvacrol as the major anti-inflammatory component of thyme essential oil. Here's some other aromatherapy reading for you: Essential Oils as a Spiritual Study Aid And with Valentine's Day coming up, you might want to take a look at my Essential Oils As Aphrodisiacs blog post. Thai MassageSome years back I took two weekend workshops in Thai massage that was a lot of fun. I never did much Thai massage because (traditionally) it's done on a mat on the floor, and I found working and moving around on the floor too hard on my knees and back. Thai massage uses a series of yoga-like stretches, muscle compression, joint mobilization, and acupressure techniques to improve the energy flow in the body. If you have never had a Thai massage, I recommend finding a well-trained Thai massage practitioner and having the experience. Aesthetic VideoSource sent me a review copy of the new DVD titled "The Ultimate Thai Massage Video: Advanced Mat Techniques." The instructor is Anthony James, ND, who began studying Thai massage in Thailand in the early 1980s and is founder of SomaVeda in Florida. The video is nearly three hours long and demonstrates a complete southern-style Thai massage routine after a brief (and interesting) introduction to the background and principles of Thai massage. The verbal instruction is clear, the camera angles are good so you can see clearly, and the pace is slow enough that just about anyone can probably follow it. It's a beautifully produced video. The Ultimate Thai Massage Video: Advanced Mat Techniques Personal Development ArticlesA brief look at Bruce Lipton's book The Biology of Belief: Unleashing the Power of Consciousness, Matter & Miracles. Steps for how to make the law of attraction work for you. Sponsor Wouldn't it be great if you were master of your thoughts, instead of a slave to them?
