About Carol Wiley
Licensed Massage Practitioner
I am a 1997 graduate of the 900-hour massage therapy program at the Brian Utting School of Massage in Seattle, WA. I also have additional training in Soft Tissue Release, Neuromuscular Technique, Abdominal Massage, Thai Massage, and Postural Analysis.
I am Nationally Certified in Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCTMB) and amember of the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA).
What type of massage do I offer? Each massage is tailored to the individual's needs using various techniques, including:
Swedish Massage relaxes muscles and improves circulation using kneading, long strokes, and friction techniques on the superficial muscles, plus active and passive movements of the joints.
Deep Tissue Massage releases chronic patterns of tension in the body by working on the deeper layers of muscles.
Neuromuscular Technique (NMT) is a type of deep tissue massage that uses a specific protocol for getting rid of the source of pain.
Soft Tissue Release creates freedom and looseness and reduces pain by combining stretching, movement, and pressure.
More About Carol
Before becoming a massage therapist, I was a technical writer and engineer. Why the change? Although I made a living through technical pursuits, my outside interests were martial arts and dance. I loved the body-oriented focus of martial arts and dance and wanted that to be more a part of my professional life.
I am extensively involved with contact improvisation dance. I have been an organizer of the Seattle Festival of Dance Improvisation (SFDI) since 1994 and am a founding board member of Dance Art Group, a non-profit organization that produces SFDI and other dance-related events.
